Can’t Spell Pasir Ris without R-I-P
Yishun has a reputation for being home to some of the more unhinged people in Singapore…but at least it’s easier to run away from people you can see.
Our investigation revealed that the morbid honour of being Singapore’s Most Haunted belongs to Pasir Ris—as one of our readers put it, “East is beast”. We’re not sure which was more scary: the stories we found, or the stories that our readers were sharing in the comments section.
This is one of the few internet-sleuthing, dataset-cleaning, self-questioning stories that we’ve done, so we’re really proud of it.

In an upcoming story, we’ll be speaking to a profile to find out how people living in rental estates are disproportionately affected by climate change, and how they’re paying the price—both literally and figuratively.
